Out of all the trails available to cyclists, the Mountain Loop is definitely the most rugged. A great mix of flat, gentle inclines, and small hills will get the calves burning and the blood flowing.
Don’t worry that this trail is too extreme- it is a great challenge and takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes the area has to offer. A stop at the Sanctuaire Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in Rigaud is a great chance for a picnic lunch. Also on the route are three agricultural villages that have followed a traditional way of life for centuries. Très-Saint-Rédempteur, Sainte-Marthe and Sainte-Justine-de-Newton were founded by the Irish and the influence still remains. Those familiar with the film Cordélia may recognize the church in Très-Saint-Rédempteur from one of the scenes in the major drama.
Don’t forget to stop in at Mr. Kavanagh’s deer farm in Sainte Marthe!
